I want to get rid of the flip ups though and blend them into the hood. In the slits right there where the turn signals are i want to make some custom leds for the headlights and turn signals. how would i go about doing this. i have an idea but i dont do too much electronic work.

Re: custom led headlights

Your going to need some high power Luxeons and good drivers with a bit of cooling if you want it to be any good. Here is Audi's LED setup. That would be really nice to emulate. http://www.worldcarfans.com/10708133...-with-r8-model

If you don't have experience with lighting circuits then this project may be over your head. Practice with some basic 5mm bright white leds to get the circuits correct before you try the more expensive high power stuff. Don't expect to get a good headlight by just using a bunch of 5mm LEDs.

Re: custom led headlights

Search around for the best price on the LEDs and you can get everything else from Mouser, Digi-key, Octopart, etc...

Definitely post progress pics during this build. I would like to see how it turns out. I thought about doing some LED headlights but don't want to mess around with that idea right now.

Just remember along with adequate power your going to need some good cooling for those LEDs also. In my slightly higher power LEDs projects I run CPU heat sinks with 80mm fans for cooling each LED. But I have a bit more space than you are going to be constrained to..
