hi guys about 3 weeks ago i purchased (my first american car) a 1991 pontiac firebird 5.0L v8 305. was running perfectly fine until two days ago when i parked it up normally on the night no problems, but in the morning when i came to start it, it started ran for about 20-30 seconds went to pul away, it spluttered cut out and wont start since! it does turn over but wont start, it has lots of fuel. any common issues on this model/engine?

Does it have spark? check the coil? And spark plug wires .

 

hi mate, ive checked the spark and there is no spark, i obtained a new coil today and fitted it and still no spark, i have tested the four wires to the coil and two stay permanently earthed, one becomes live with the ignition switched on and the other does not do anything, just permanently neutral.

Think the first thing to check (besides B+) would be the distributor module, and the pick up coil second.
