Horn doesn't work
Horn doesn't work
Alright, my horn doesn't work, the fuse keeps blowing.
From what I've found out, the fuse is tied in with the interior lights, and the rear hatch motor, the rear hatch motor does not work, and it is unhooked. The dome light does work, and so does the horn, when the fuse isn't blown.
So, what could cause the fuse to blow?
EDIT:
I really need my horn, people disregard my beatup Camaro 'cause it's barely half the size of there compensation-mobile.
So... THe faster I fix this, the less likely I am to wind up hitting someone... They don't even NOTICE I'm there.

Check all the items on that circuit for a short. Unplug all of them and put a fresh fuse in then plug in and use each one, one at a time. You will eventually find the item that is either drawing to many amps or shorted. Then unplug that item and leave everything else hooked up. If your fuse does not blow anymore you have found your problem.

Re: Horn doesn't work
Often times the lighter shorting out causes this to happen. Not the insert but the socket itself. To check you have to unplug it from behind and then try a new fuse. Don't let the connector to the back touch anything, the orange wire is always hot. To get to it you have to take off the panel under the steering wheel before pulling off the bezel around the gauges. Good luck
Re: Horn doesn't work
Update, disconnected both the front and rear interior lights, dome and hatch light, aswell as the cigarette lighter.
Put in a fuse, good to go, hooked the dome light back up, but, I didn't hook up the rear light 'cause it has a blown bulb.
So far, so good, didn't hook the cigarette lighter back up, I was able to pull the panel loose and disconnect it without taking out the lower knee panel.
The plug is currently hanging beside the cigarette lighter, outside the dash trim piece, where it cannot touch a thing.
So, as I said, so far so good. I'll probably get a replacement cigarette lighter if the fuse doesn't blow without the old one hooked up, if it does I'm gonna start digging into the horn wiring, dome light wiring, and rear hatch light wiring.
On a side note, I found out why my rear defroster doesn't work, one of the blade connectors on one of the pistons was loose :P

Re: Horn doesn't work
I had this same problem with my lighter. If you take out the lighter and pull the prongs inward inside the lighter plug so that it will hold the lighter in place again, you won't have this issue anymore. After 20 years the prongs just don't hold the lighter the same and need to be readjusted. Can be done with a screwdriver. I did this to mine almost a year ago and haven't had any issues since.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
I may just replace it later on when I replace the dash pad, and front speakers. I'm doing the front speakers probably even before I install the new stereo, 'cause, I don't want to have to do it twice. That dash pad is a tad annoying, one screw down a defrost vent, you'll never see it again.

You should be able to avoid replacing it.
And I dropped a screw straight down that defroster right as I was thinking about how hopeless I'd be if I did so. Blindly fishing around with a measuring tape with a built in magnet I've got managed to save it. I was pretty pissed at myself when I dropped it!

It all depends on how much it costs to replace it, if it isn't absurd, and it's an American part, I'll get it. If not, I'll fix it. Mostly what it comes down too is time, my father isn't going to help me put that dash pad in if I screw around trying to fix a cigarette lighter. He's somewhat impatient.
As for the bumper sticker, lol, I've seen that one. I need to get one for my fathers '86 Olds custom cruiser... 'Cept the horn isn't broken, he just uses three signaling devices.
Horn
A sentence of profanities
Followed by a finger
Sometimes a fourth signaling device, more profanities.
As for dropping them this time, not gonna happen, I'm sticking a hard drive magnet to my screwdriver. It magnetizes it so much it's absurd
Seriously, want a powerful magnet, for oh say, when you loose a screw in the driveway?
Find an old hard drive, drill or remove the torx screws, yank the uber powerful magnet out, NEVER EVER EVER lay it in your lap, if your zipper is slightly magnetic you're going to find out what pain really is! And remember this ruins the hard drive, but the magnets are worth ruing a dead or antiquated hard drive. But NEVER LAY THEM IN YOUR LAP, EVER! Unless your a woman, then you'll be fine...
So, loose a screw in the driveway, in a vent, ect, tie this thing to a string, you'll find it and any other metallic objects nearby. I found a Champion spark plug that came out of a '77 Ford Country Squire wagon we had, 351 modified motor, thing literally CAUGHT FIRE once. I was looking for a hood bolt my father dropped, found that spark plug, and a few other bolts that we didn't know the origins of. Oh well, threw them in our old aluminum mixing bowl we use as a screw bowl.
Oh and on a side note, never actually get these magnets near a hard drive you actually care about when it's in operation, when it's off it won't hurt, but when it's in operation, it can cause the arm to screw up. And, on another side note, never have these magnets anywhere near an old CRT TV or monitor you care about.
