fuse/dome light issue
fuse/dome light issue
I have a 91 3.1L firebird and my dome light hasn't worked in a couple of years. I recently picked up the helm's repair manual and I pulled the cover off the dome light and the bulb had blown, looked kind of brown in the compartment too a little bit. The book said check the horn and sure enough my horn didn't work either so I replaced the 25 amp fuse in the accessory fuse hole and the light came back on. When I turned the key on in the on position the light went out again so I pulled the new fuse out and attempted to put in another and sparks came out of the acc fuse area. It wouldn't even let me put one back in, does this sound like a short and if it is where do you think I should start looking to trace it? Thanks in advance.

The leading cause of that problem is a shorted cigarette lighter outlet.
Disconnect it and report.

Re: fuse/dome light issue
Thanks Nina, seems you were spot on. I never even thought to look there, I never use it but I pulled it out and I'm guessing my ex was messing with it because I found two pennies had slid under the lighter. But I put in a new fuse and it works fine, thank you!
