92 camaro gas gauge beyond full...fixed
So my 1992 camaro's gas gauge showed beyond full for the longest time. I actually found time to check it out and the fix for me was easy (after trying several things for about a year). Took out the gauge cluster and found out where the cluster connects to the wiring harness ( 2 actual connectors / gas gauge on the left connection) had a metal prong that was bent so it would not make contact with the circuit board of the gauge cluster. I bent it back so it would make contact with the circuit board when the cluster was plugged into the dash and presto the gauge magically worked properly. Not reading past full anymore. No longer do I have to wait and start dying out at traffic lights to let me know that I need gas.
This worked for me on my 1992...not sure how the setup is for other years. Originally I thought I was a ground wire issue since the gauge read way past full. If it were the gauge it probably wouldn't read at all.
So after searching the message boards over the past year or two I hope this additional info helps someone else. The only thing I ever found was for a bad ground, bad gauge or bad sending unit...now you can add bend metal prong to the list. If I get time (and remember too
) I will post pictures of what I am talking about.

Fuses, connectors and grounds are usually a good starting point, or back-probing with a meter to find where the signal/voltage disappears.

Just either never got around too it or when I did I couldn't find the issue. Plus I have a car for work so didn't drive it all that much over the last year.

1992 camaro
Back panel of the gauge cluster circuit board

dash where gauge cluster plugs into...the white plug on the left is where the pin was bent down not making contact
