Power Windows Real Slow And More..Help Please!
on my 87 IROC my power windows take anywhere from 10-15 to move up and down especially the passenger side. Also my cigarette lighter, rear defroster, and power locks switch don't work. The power locks make a noise like there power getting to them but nothing happens. Has anybody run into this problem before or know what could be wrong?

I'd check fuses for the lighter and defroster.
A search will no doubt provide more info.

I'm not sure about your specific situation, but that is how my power window motors behaved before they finally pooped out and I put new motors in. I checked to make sure they were getting power - and they were. They were just old. It was a fairly significant amount of work replacing them, but well worth it. They fly up and down now!

That is about what I paid at O'Reillys. I would also check the new motor as well before you put it in. It don't usually happen, but just because it is new doesn't mean that it is a good part. You never know about foreign parts.

That is one thing I absolutely LOVE about these cars!!! Parts don't cost anywhere near what they do on newer makes. I put a fuel pump in an 02 blazer that was almost $400. Fuel pump on a 3rd gen is less than 20% of that!! A power window motor for a I had 20 years ago was $400 back then. I might as well have driven a Porsche!

yea but the speed sensor is a little much for my 92 Camaro RS. btw idk about ur trans am but i had to drill some holes in my panel to replace the window motor, i think next time i'll just use a grinder.

Yeah, I did too. I also put one in the bracketry when I got it apart so nothing moved and went back in exactly how it came out.

yea, when you get your new motor you'll know where you need to get to. i still have to replace my driver side and i'm gonna use a grinder or dremel instead of a drill and just take out a bigger section.

Re: Power Windows Real Slow And More..Help Please!
I didn't have to do that. I was able to fish it out. But If I recal correctly, the motors are riveted in the bracketry. You can drill those out. I think I used a dremel. But I did drill them out to fit the bolts I put the new one in with. I put a "location" hole in the bracketry with a bolt holding it in place while I secured the new motor in. That part is not as difficult as fishing everything out through the top and panel side of the door. Like I said, it is a fairly involved job, but once you do one side, the other one won't be as bad cause you'll have the hang of what to look for.

Since you'll be inside the door anyway, I'd recommend simply cleaning and relubing first, then see what happens. My car exhibited symptoms similar to the OP's a half dozen years ago. After a cleaning/relubing everything works well to date.

soak everything in WD-40 first, this serves to melt away the crud.i then use a oil can with a piece of vaccum hose on the spout so i can direct the oil where needed.you will need to use white grease on the roller tracks and on the motor to regulator gear too.mine was this way also ,but after service.everything including my locks work so much easier
