Oil,Tach and Fuel Gauges Fluctuate with acceleration???
Oil,Tach and Fuel Gauges Fluctuate with acceleration????
my 91 z28 has this issue at idle tach is running at 2800 or so and my fuel, oil pressure gauges go up when a accelerate for example if i nail the gas fuel guage goes to full and oil pressure goes to max.and during reg driving oil guage jumps all over the place and fuel gauge returns to actual reading at idle. im figuring its a ground issue but i figured if anyone knew this would be the place to ask. i put a ton of money and time in this car, i love it and would like to get the gauges back to normal any help?

Do any of your lights get brighter when you gun it? Might see what kind of voltage your running when you gun it.

I would get a voltmeter from someone and check the voltage when you gas it. If you can't get one unplug your alternator and see if it still does it when you gas it. I bet your voltage regulator took a dump and it is running full voltage to your field. When you gas it instead of holding your voltage at 14 volts it is letting it pump out as much as it can. If it is running high you either need to put a new voltage regulator in your alternator or get a new alternator. Running high voltage can do damage to your car.

A buddy of mine parts these cars out so i may just swap alternators real quick n see if that does it

I would unplug the alternator first and see if it stops. It would save you extra work incase it isn't the problem.
