Cold start injector questions

Hello, everyone.

I will be purchasing an 87 Iroc-Z parts car today, and I would appreciate some advice concerning the computer/harness, and in particular, the cold start injector. The car that I am buying was a 350 car, but no longer has the engine or trans. My interest in this vehicle is to use it as a computer/harness donor for my 1989 Iroc-Z in which I plan to install a 350 motor in before springtime. (It was originally a 305) Being a 1989, my car did not come equipped with a Cold start injector, but I understand that up until that year, all TPI cars did, which would include the 1987 parts car that I'm getting. It is my wish to NOT have to install a CSI in my vehicle if it can at all be avoided, but from what I understand, the computer from the 1987 will necessitate its presence because of the injector pulse pattern. Is there any way around this? Any advice concerning a 1987 harness swap to an 1989 car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

(And just so it's known, I searched the boards to see if there were any topics of this nature, and I didn't see anything that quite matched my needs.)

Computers identical 86 - 89 ,305 or 350 TPI ; only the tune is different
If you have a '89 TPI memcal ( chip ) in any of them then you don't need the CSI installed

So you need a stock 89 350 TPI memcal or a custom one for same

Note
If you have a 305 TPI then you can reuse everything you already have in the car
inc computer /harness / intake on the new 350 TPI
Just need correct memcal in the computer ( and 350 injectors )

Re: Cold start injector questions

The only reason I need the harness is because mine (out of the 1989) is a little torn up, and the one in the parts car is in much better shape. As for the memcal, is that the same thing as the prom? If it is, I can't use mine out of the 89 because it's from a 305.
