Coolant Temperature Sending Unit

I recently did the timing on my 92 camaro rs 305 and put a code reader up to it and it gave me a code 15. that's the coolant temperature sending unit. will this little sensor effect how the car starts? unless i pour gas in the throttle body it doesn't like starting. maybe just some faulty wiring somewhere?

If the computer is not seeing the correct (actual ) engine temp it can't supply correct amount of fuel needed

Possibly. check the 2 wires to the sensor and the connector
New CTS is only $14 and your stock one may still be the original
