Weird choke light issues
I'm trying to get the interior of my car back together but i am having some issues with the choke light. I am in the process of getting the center console back together, and i am working on the radio and putting heater controls back in place. For some reason when i hook the brown power connector for the heater controls into the back of he heater control unit, the choke light comes on. When i turn the blower motor on, the light dims, but is still some what visible.
I looked at the wiring diagrams in order to trace the choke light wire from the fuse box, but for some reason the lay-out for my 86 fuse box, is different from everything i can find. All the diagrams show the choke heater fuse in the upper right hand corner of the fuse block, but instead of choke heater, my block reads LID.
disregard the circled parts in the photo.

Broke Choke
There’s no telling what the PO might have done, so just make sure one side of the choke light goes to the GAGES fuse, and the other side of the choke light goes to the tie point where the choke heater and the choke relay are connected.
The reason the light illuminates when you connect the brown wire is it supplies power to the relay.
That upper right fuse might still pass power to the choke circuit.
Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe that brown wire to verify when you remove the fuse the wire has no voltage.
Here is the choke symbol to help you locate the parts.
