89 camaro hazards shorting
89 camaro hazards shorting
Ok I've looked and looked but can't seem to find an answer to my problem anywhere. Since I bought my car (Camaro RS V8 E style TBI 305), the right blinker will not work. It ticks too fast, and there is no internal light or external light flashing. The left blinker works. Yesterday, I replaced the right bulb just for the heck of it, and it worked fine.
The hazard switch will blow the fuse anytime i push it. I've replaced the flasher already. I took my steering wheel off and the lockplate (NOT EASY TO REMOVE OR INSTALL that darn thing!) I took apart the switch and cleaned up the copper connections. Wiring looked clean and the switch was operating properly yada yada... Anyway, I put in a clean fuse, and tried the hazards again. They worked perfectly. Right turn signal still worked. I thought hmm maybe it just needed to be cleaned and rebuilt? So I put my lockplate back on and clipped it in place. Tried my hazards again. Fuse blows. Right turn signal back to before..... So somehow that switch is shorting to my lockplate? Why doesn't it mess with my left turn signal? I mean none of the electrical connections beneath the switch move when the lockplate is put in. The only thing that changed is that spring compresses, and that plate is pretty close to the switch (although i don't believe it is touching). Any ideas here?
