Can anyone give me a detailed version of how to get behind my dash so i can change the bulbs, and also behind the radio. most bulbs are out and i need to replace. tried to get behind the dash but i can seem to, any help would be awesome, thankyou

im not sure how to get the main frame out. my problem is taking off the light **** to dim or lighten the daslights?

 

Take off the top dash pad

Remove the left speaker frame (if you have enough wire you don't need to take the speaker out first) and move it over to the right for now.

Remove gauge bezel and also the trim piece.

Remove trim piece under steering wheel

Carefully start rocking the gauge housing side to side while pulling it toward you. When you start feeling resistance, it's time to reach, from the top of dash, down with a flat screwdriver to push inward onto the quick release clip for the speedometer. A lot of light focused on the area will help and a helper is useful for pulling on the housing while you disengage the clip based on tight quarters. I just did it yesterday. Although frustrating, it's not hard. Just a poor design. More detailed links are available by searching like I did. I also found some that suggested painting the blue part of the trim white, for more brightness.

 

Last guys dash is different from yours. You have no speedo cable. No need to remove dash pad. Remove hush panel under steering wheel. Light **** will usually pull stright off but not easily. It's held on by a metal clip that has tension on one of the three edges of the shaft. If you can pull it all the way out and get around behind it with a tiny screwdriver or a curved tool of some type and push the tab towards you it will release the **** and you can see how it it set up to hold it on. Otherwise pull it off slowly and firmly and it will usually pull off leaving the metal clip on the shaft to be removed with needle nose or something to compress the clip. After that by removing the lower four little bolts, the bezel pulls off easily. Remove the bolts holding in the cluster and pull out with wheel tilted all the way down and bulbs are accessible in the rear. Reverse to install
And disconnect the battery first
And almost forgot, on the bottom of the light switch body there is a spring loaded little button that when pressed in pretty hard will release the whole shaft with the ****. You later just stick it back in to replace it. You can get to it from underneath

 

ok well, i got it all off and replaced the bulbs but still doesnt light, and the dimmer doesnt work, stays at the same level of light, what can this be?

worked perfectly for my 91 rs
