How do you bypass the Dimmer Switch?

I've replaced the fuses. Bought a new dimmer/headlight switch. And even got a new remote dimmer switch. Still no dash lights. I have a 1989 Formula. I need to drive at night and I really don't have a need to dim my lights lol I've read in multiple threads that you can bypass the dimmer switch. If someone could tell me what that entails I'd be forever grateful. If you could use the colors of the wires and not fancy terms i'd also appreciate that lol If needed I took pictures of just about everything I've done. I'm really bad at understanding the wiring. I just wanna do it myself and not have to take it to car-x.

I looked at a wire diagram that "Trickster" had posted in another thread And I still don't understand it.

Re: How do you bypass the Dimmer Switch?

Which fuses did you replace? The circuit begins with the "tail" fuse, not the "inst lps" fuse. So if you haven't checked the "tail" fuse/taillights, you should probably do that before tearing into the wires under the dash.

In 2007 I bought an '89 Firebird, and a previous owner had (sort of) done what you're asking about. Apparently the remote dimmer had gone bad, so he bypassed it, rigging the dimmer switch so the dash lights were on full, which kept them from being dimmed. The car had 6 previous owners, so...

IIRC, he'd spliced-in a wire to connect the green/white wire at the dimmer switch to the green wire at the back of the "inst lps" fuse. I replaced the remote dimmer, put the wiring back, and everything worked right again.

It seems like he also did something with the brown wire from the headlight switch, but sorry, I don't remember what he did, or if he'd done anything... just seems like there was more to it than just the green/white-to-green splice.

That was for bypassing the remote dimmer. But you said you replaced the headlight switch, the dimmer switch and the remote dimmer, so I don't see why anything would need bypassing or rewiring, which is what takes me back to checking the "tail" fuse.

But regarding the remote dimmer, are you sure you got the connector back on it securely? I remember it being a real PITA to get to it.
