car charging help

Any help is appreciated. my car is not charging properly. i have checked all the grounds and got the alternator tested. the alternator put out 15 volts when tested but when i put ot back on the car it doesnt charge. what could the problem be? It a 87 ta with the 305 4 barrel

There are many different possible causes. Although I haven't quite finished locating my charging problem, what I did was search the 'electronics' forum and keep changing the keywords in the search box, such as "not charging", "bad ground", "volt gauge" etc. You'll find a ton of info. including other members input/horror stories and different remedies they have tried.

Ok ive replaced the alt and bat but now it seems like the alt voltage just mirfors the bat voltage. it does fine for a day or two then it just starts to die rapidly. i charge the bat and its good again for a couple days.
