brain teaser - another TBI stumble and die

car sat all winter. Ran well last year. Son's first car. Finally fixed wipers and column. Took car out for maiden voyage and car dies with an off idle stumble. Figured moisture and time caught up with me. New plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil, fuel filter. Still dies. This is a 305 TBI formula. I bought and installed fuel pressure gauge. Also no SES codes - none. This car has not made it down our driveway yet. Told my son be thankful not too far to push. Tonight I went out to figure this thing out. While driving tonight and try to watch the pressure gauge I noticed the speedometer jump. This car has had a bad speedo from the start and last year we changed the sensor in the transmission. Which didn't fix it. We didn't get the speedometer operating, then winter set in. Tonight I noticed when ever the speedometer jumped up to 120 MPH the car died. I tried this three times to make sure I was seeing the problem. Sure enough, I crawled under and disconnected the speedometer cable at the sensor and bingo. 10 miles and no stalls. What the heck is this?

Re: brain teaser - another TBI stumble and die

I need to thank all of you for I have been reading off idle stumble posts for the last three nights until way later than i should. These posts are also why I didn't cut the hard furl line to install the cheap tee. I took the first pressure gauge back and ordered an Actron with the correct adapter - thanks
