Interior LED lights dimming when car is shut down
Today I installed Pilot LED bulbs (blue) under the dash, and also a LED in the dome (white). When I shut the car down the blue lights under the dash will dim. If I take out the blue light then the dome light will dim. If I put the original bulbs under the dash the dome let will shut off and the original bulbs stay off too. I dont understand the probelm, I am using 194 LEDs and just plugging them in like the original bulbs. Could there be a probelm with the fuses or I just bought sh*tty bulbs from Pep Boys?
Re: Interior LED lights dimming when car is shut down
This is just a guess but...
LEDS are a lot more sensitive to the amount of current they get than incandescent bulbs are. As little as .5 extra volts and a few milliamps can make the lights dramatically brighter.
It could be that when the alternator is running, you are getting slightly more power than just through the battery and/or you battery is a little low.
It also sounds like it's possible that the circuit your lights are on is overloaded. That seems unlikely to me though considering that leds generally use much less power.
Oh and one more thing, you did wire your lights in parallel right? Because if you did them in a series (like xmas lights) then they won't operate properly.
By your description I can't exactly understand the problem to be honest. Are you worried about the dimming or are the lights staying on when they aren't supposed to?

It's when I shut the car completely off the lights are still on but there dimmed.

Your dome light will remain on as long as a door is opened.
I don't know how you've installed your lower dash lights.
If what you are saying is that they stay on all the time, you have a wiring issue. Those circuits are supposed to be shut off when the car is off and the door is shut. You are getting miniscule amount of power through the wires even when the car is off.
You've most likely always had this issue with your car, but again, led lights are far more sensitive. Your regular bulbs wouldn't light with such a measly leak, but leds certainly will.
Time to get out the multimeter. Check your grounds on the chassis and make sure they are free of rust as well as any other suspect wiring.
Sorry I can't help anymore but I'm not an expert on camaro wiring. Regardless, this is a GOOD thing. This has probably been wearing down your battery since you got the car, now you know you have an issue.

I have to do the multi meter however I have been busy. I bought the car in Oct 2011 and I don't drive it much and the battery is fine, never bass probelm with it. Hopefully I figure it out soon bc I really line the leds
Re: Interior LED lights dimming when car is shut down
Well rest assured that if it wasn't a big enough issue to wear down your battery before it won't be now. They aren't drawing any more current than your traditional lights unless you rewired something, they are simply making better use of it.
