Bad rear hatch release, suggestions on replacement?

My 92 has the electric release unit, and after 20 years of service, finally gave up. The hatch was open when it stopped working. I'm assuming it just burned up, I'm getting no response when I try to shut the hatch.
Whats the best way to approach buying one? I'd like to just buy a new unit and bolt in, rather than trying to rebuild the old one, unless it's way less expensive, then I'll rebuild. I'm working on a budget like everyone. Are new units even available? Thanks in advance....

Hatch Latch Catch

They’re all rebuilds.

Your fastest pit-stop is to swap it.

I don’t know what your budget is but they’re only $389 from

I have two, one has the whole housing. Will sell both together in case you need parts. Both Factory. I will add picture's if you like.

Motor may be bad. Very cheap part from 1A with the housing. Easy swap.

Here's how to replace it. Video also made by 1A.

Okay, thanks. I think the motor went. I unplugged, plugged back in, wiggled the wire connector slightly, no response. The vid will help me through it,

Thanks everyone!

They're not difficult to rebuild on your own. I bought a $100 rebuild kit and rebuilt mine. Works great.
