Another headlight motor thread
Long story short, had to Superglue, JB weld and tape the headlight bracket on the driver side since the motor was literally hanging by the bar from under the headlight.
Anyway. The first time I repaired the bracket ( thin layer of JB Weld and only one side of the cracks ) didn't hold up.
I took everything out again and made some extra re-inforcements to the bracket. Put everything back in and now the motor will not lift the headlight all the way up. ( 100% positive everything is installed correctly. That was the first thing I checked )
When I turn on the lights, the headlight will raise a couple inches and just stop. I can visually confirm the motor is still spinning ( with no odd sounds ) and if I go over and pull the headlight up manually after the motor stops, it will hold itself up decently enough.( Though it will not lift the bar under the headlight all the way up like the passenger side does to physically prevent the light from falling. Driving over any bumps will slowly lower the light ) I CAN however, stick my hand under the light and move the aforementioned lever just a tad to match the passenger side one, which in turn, prevents the light from being able to lower unless the bar is moved by either myself, or the motor if I re-connect it.
With the headlights raised, if I turn them off, both headlights will lower in unison without any problems.
So. Time for a new motor or does it sound like this motor can be repaired?
( Really want to get this fixed ASAP. Driving around with the headlights popped up in the day time makes me feel insecure
) Though they DO serve as good markers for how long the front of these cars actually are.
