Ignition wiring

So I was having trouble starting my car the other day and im almost certain its something to do with the ignition system. I hooked up an inline spark tester and got nothing, so i replaced the ignition coil and it still didnt help. so i tested the orange wire that goes to the BAT socket on the distributor cap and nothing popped up on the volt meter which leads me to believe its bad/broken, does anyone know where it goes or what the problem might be?

Re: Ignition wiring

How about the ignition module inside the distributor have you thought about that?

Re: Ignition wiring

thatll be the next thing on my list to try. So far ive replaced the cap, rotor, ignition coil, tested the wire that goes to the BAT connector on the cap and got the correct voltage, i even tested the pickup coil. so it seems like the only other thing in the distributor would be the module. Does anybody know the correct impedance of the plug wire?

Take another at that “orange wire

Any chance it might be
pink ?

Anyway if your not getting power on that wire you’re just throwing parts at the car, with the usual zero results.

You have a bad or burned out connection between it and the ignition switch, or power to the switch.
