Okay, I've had this intermittant blower motor issue on my '83. It either works perfectly, or not at all. I suspect a loose connection, since it seems to stop working when I hit a bump. I've replaced the blower motor, and there is power and good ground to it. I've also replaced the switch in the dash. I've examined the red wire connector on the firewall and the one in the dash behind the controls. Both appear normal and undamaged. In fact, when I disconnect and reconnect the one in the dash with the power on, I hear it clicking, which makes me think it's okay.

Any thoughts before I drive this car into the lake?

pull on all the wires that go into the connectors is all I can think of as one is loose. Either that or the gound isnt tight enough.

Oh, one other thing. The red wire connector near the firewall doesn't have power with a test light. But the red wire under the relay by the blower motor does.

did you ever figure this one out? I have the same issue except my red wire on firewall has power and also has power at the relay.

Yup. I was looking in all of the wrong places. I did have a broken wire going to the blower. But the main problem was a burned ground connector which worked intermittantly. Look behind the red connector by the firewall, the one that everyone says goes bad. Behind it is a similar black ground connector. That one was my problem.

thanks! I think I have a different issue unfortunately. I jumped the red wire power to the purple wire from the relay and the blower started right up and the a/c engaged...
