gauges dont work

Hows it going guys, i had a quick question about my third gen. I just bought an 87" iroc convertible and the only gauge thats working is the battery needle. The odometer, oil, gas, and temp gauge arent functioning. Also the car was originally a manual trans converted to an auto so for some reason the rpm gauge is just missing completely. One thing it does have is an oil press gauge under the hood. Any input on fixing this or why its even rigged up like this would be greatly appreciated. Oh and the car does run.

Looks like the PO made a mess of things.

Make sure the two connectors are fully plugged into the back of the dash.

Then make sure the grounds are connected.

Then make sure the GAGES fuses is good.

If the above are good, but still the gages don’t work, use an ohmmeter to probe the
purple wire (which you find in one of the connectors) in reference to ground.

What is the reading?

Here’s how to check the fuel sender:

Remove the sender wire going to the gage.

Connect an ohmmeter between ground to that wire.

A correct reading will be between zero and 90 ohms.

But zero might be a short so have at least a ¼ full tank so you get some resistance.
