My car will not start seams to be an intermittent problem. no cranking of engine.

I have a switch that i have to hold to the on position then turn the key to get the car to start (added by previous owner)

one day the car wouldn't start so i jumped 2 wires that hook into a something on the clutch pedal under the dash. I think it is the safety switch. car fired up.

two weeks ago my car wouldn't start. tried jumping the same wires nothing. put the wires back and replaced the starter car still wouldn't start. removed the 2 wires again and hooked them permanently together and the car fired right up.

car will not start again. I kind of wiggled my foot on the clutch peddal and it started to turn over but about half a second to short to start.

Any suggestion?

i want to try to replace the ignition switch is this easy?

Sounds like there's a short in your 2 wires somewhere...

 

I dont' know what the two wires are, could be neutral safety, could be ignition. You'll need to pick up a wiring diagram and try and figure it out.
