Not sure if this is right place to ask.

I have the door panels off on my 84 Z28. The mirrors were removed for painting and reinstalled and now they do not work. Does the power mirror switch need to be installed in door panel to work? If not, does anybody know how to troubleshoot. I have checked all my fuses. I was going to purchase a new switch, but it does not look like I can just pick one up.
