Testing MAF... It should glow, right?
Does anyone know if the MAF should be glowing at idle? All the power to my MAF checks out ok, but it doesn't glow. It doesn't seem to glow when I remove it from the intake path and the car is running (MAF is still plugged in). I'm only getting like 1.4volts from the MAF to the ECM, I believe it should be 5volts… Can anyone help me out?

The voltage the MAF sends to the ECM is dependent on how much air flow is detected through the MAF. Low air flow, low voltage. High air flow, higher voltage.

If you are testing the MAF volts at idle, that seems a little high but could be normal for our cars. Each vehicle with MAF is a little different, but MAF readings at idle should be around 0.7v to 1.2v depending on vehicle. So 1.4v could be normal.
