Power pull down hatch motor differences?
My 86 t/a has power pull down which works fine but I added the hatch release button from my 87 t/a and want to hook it up.Do I also need the hatch motor from the 87 or are all hatch motors have a release solenoid?

all of them seem to be the same its just the monting bracket on the body of the car that changes. I know 87 thru 90 they are the same but 91 / 92 are completely different. they are smaller then the earlier years.

You'll need to swap a hatch release solenoid for your existing manual hatch release. It is simply a matter of prying off the cable release from the back side of the key-lock cylinder using a medium flat-blade screwdriver. Then unscrew the 10mm screw attaching the manual release to the latch assembly. Get a solenoid release from a doner car and attach it to the latch assembly with the 10mm screw. It is important to also connect the ground wire to that same 10mm screw. The smaller connector end of the ground wire attaches to the body ground location below the pull-down unit. Snap the off-white end of the cable release to the backside of the key-lock cylinder. Next attach the black wire with a rectangular black plug into the end of the solenoid. This black wire is the hot wire that runs forward to the hatch release relay, then the hatch release switch. I'm attaching a picture of the hatch release solneoid for these 86 to early 91 model year cars.
