Check engine light

Check engine light

I have no check engine light I am doing a motor swap. Still using obd1. Just want to know how can I wire my own led light up so I can check codes? I have the 3 prongs under the dash a,b,m that's what I was told I need to check codes with the paper clip trick but there I light wired to it so there nothing to blink. Can any one help me. Sorry for the mess typing this on my phone at 2 am

You failed to mention the model and year so we’ll just answer generically.

Your car came with a bulb for that however it might be burnt out.

When you get a good bulb in there:

The top right 2 pins are terminals A and B.

With the key in the OFF position, connect A & B.

Turn the key to the RUN position.

You should see the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light flash.

It should will flash once, pause, then flash twice, it should do it 3 times.

That flashing represents code 12 (even tho it flashed 12 three times).

Then it should flash any stored codes in the same manner.

Are you saying you don't physically have the light and you need to install one?
do you still have all the factory wiring?
What year / engine and we can tell you which wires to connect a light to
Should always mention what car you have when asking ??; many differences through the years;
one size does not fit all
Better still ,fill in your profile so guys don't have to guess
