Check engine light
Check engine light
I have no check engine light I am doing a motor swap. Still using obd1. Just want to know how can I wire my own led light up so I can check codes? I have the 3 prongs under the dash a,b,m that's what I was told I need to check codes with the paper clip trick but there I light wired to it so there nothing to blink. Can any one help me. Sorry for the mess typing this on my phone at 2 am

You failed to mention the model and year so we’ll just answer generically.
Your car came with a bulb for that however it might be burnt out.
When you get a good bulb in there:
The top right 2 pins are terminals A and B.
With the key in the OFF position, connect A & B.
Turn the key to the RUN position.
You should see the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light flash.
It should will flash once, pause, then flash twice, it should do it 3 times.
That flashing represents code 12 (even tho it flashed 12 three times).
Then it should flash any stored codes in the same manner.

Re: Check engine light
do you still have all the factory wiring?
What year / engine and we can tell you which wires to connect a light to
Should always mention what car you have when asking ??; many differences through the years;
one size does not fit all
Better still ,fill in your profile so guys don't have to guess
