I have the digital copy for an 88 GTA Factory Service Manual but it appears the ground distribution diagram is missing... I am trying to figure out what grounds are missing on my car.

If anyone can send me a copy of a link to the diagram that would be great..

Thanks vetteoz, this is the one I have and have went through page by page but am not finding the ground distribution diagram. I am at work now and will download this to verify it is the same FSM that I have when I get home tonight.

8A Elec section starts at page 1166 in that '88 FSM pdf

Pages 1233 through 1242 are ground dist

With the pdf file open ,from the tool bar at top
Click on , View ,Go to , Pages and type in 1233 and then click OK.
Takes you straight to the ground dist diagrams

 

so if I read the diagram right, there is only one factory body to engine ground? not including the wiring harness grounds? i bought two additional ground straps tonight to add to the engine compartment, it has one from the engine (headers) to sub frame rail on the passenger side, one from the passenger head rear to the firewall, i plan on installing the two I bought to the driver side rear head to firewall, and the other one to the front engine to sub frame rail, and also checking if the battery has a ground cable to the frame rail. it does have a the negative cable to the engine block in the factory location (assumed), looks like original to me.

Am I missing any ground locations that I should cover?

The only engine to body ground is from the rear of the right head to the firewall. No need to ground the subframe, it doesn't carry anything electrical.

 

thanks eseible67, i have read about adding grounds to assist with the factory grounds, on my 91 nissan 300zx this is a common upgrade. are there no benefits to adding these same grounds to this vehicle? based on your reply I am thinking the answer to this question is no...

I suppose there's no harm in additional grounds. I would think extras would be required with add-on electrical equipment, or if an existing connection is corroded.

 

I am trying to fix an issue with my alternator not kicking on and charging, so I think I am going to add them as precautionary and try to figure out why the black wire on my alternator doesn't get the reference signal it needs to kick on.

If you havent done it yet, I would upgrade the battery negative to body wire.

 

Im trying to find a place to post for some help as Im use to the 2nd generation camaro's.
I just got the one I have and Im fixing it up.
I just got the transmission for it.
my question is as I went through the fuse panel but I could not find the fuse for the fog lights an power doors an locks.
as this poor car was just parked so I have it now an going bring it to life and make it do what its suppose to do.
and I did find out that the key does not open the rear hatch an the electric switch clicks but the hatch wont release or open. I was told to drill a hole from inside to get to the switch that I can use a flat screw driver to open it.
where is the fuse for the fog lights and power windows and the power locks.
the power windows work an the rear hatch switch makes the rear mechanism clicks but wont open up the hatch.
the power mirrors is not working or the power door lock switch is not working.
to find the fuse block so I can use my light tester on it would be kewl. as I just got in from looking under the dash. I want to ask before I start ripping into the panels that I dont need to open.
any help is supa kewl appreciated.
