TPI to Carb wiring mistake maybe HELP!!!!

I took my whole original 1987 TPI ecu and wire harness out and swaped it for an 86 carbed harness and ecu. I didnt cut or snip any wires taking it out.
My question is will an 86 carburated harness work with my 87 to run my carburated 383 stroker with HEI msd distributor. I have the digital dash on my 87 GTA. The 86 harness looks very similar and has the same drivers side Plug. I am not sure if i pulled the trigger to quicklly and made things harder or having the carburated harness will make things easyier. I have the old engine out and have the new 383 Stroker ready to install. I havent ran the 86 wireharness yet. Its just pluged in on ther passenger side and laying on my windshield. I am hoping someone can help me out.

if your going with a carb all you need is a power wire to your distributor tach wire should be the same as before. i had tpi and went with a carb and i reused my orignal harness

Not sure why you would swap the dash harness with a carb swap.
All you usually do is disconnect the ECM and rework some wires in the engine bay
Can't you put your old harness back in?

the old harness is gone. a guy said an 86 carburated wireharness will work but it wontn i have the didgital dash and the harness doesnt have the trans speedo plug.. Im not talking about the dash harness but the engine harness. I should have kept the engine harness but now i need to find another one i guess. Learn from my mistakes. i just need to know what years are interchangeable.

Re: TPI to Carb wiring mistake maybe HELP!!!!

I'm just hoping the drivers side plug from the 86 will have the same pin outs for starter/lights/oil pressure/ alt/ wipers/ tach etc. I wish someone would know or even help point me in the right direction. I have 2 harnesses
To work with. But then again my speedo will have to be aftermarket. Does anyone have an 87 or 88 Gta digital dash harness laying around.

I wouldn't worry much about the ECM harness, only maybe 2 wires in it are even useful to you on your setup.
