Just found a 1990 firebird on craigslist with a 305 TPI and a 5 speed in it so naturally, I was intrigued. The only thing is it says it needs a new computer and harness for a quick fix. I have done a little research and seen harnesses for up to 500 online and computers for around 100. I am just looking for someone who knows more than me to confirm these are accurate and maybe give a rough estimate of what a shop would charge to replace these or the difficulty of doing it myself. Any advice would be appreciated! I don't want to waste money on this car! Thanks in advnce.

 

No. Can get a used ecm for 30-60$ and harness from a car for 100-200, used take outs.

Now with the ecm you need the chip prom, which for a 305 can be had for 20-50$ i would say. Last 305 one i bought was 50$ i think.

Not hard to replace just gotta label eAch connector and plug it all in.
