Odometer Works but only above 55 mph

Hey guys, I recently traded my triumph street triple for a 90 IROC, and the odometer doesn't seem to work below 55 mph. The Speedo works fine, and when the odometer starts to work (when i first get to ~55 mph) it clicks every few seconds. I guess this would be a mechanical problem with the odometer, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this or fixed a problem like this. Thanks for your help!

Re: Odometer Works but only above 55 mph

Quick update to this: as I was driving on the highway and the odometer working correctly, I came up to some traffic and had to slow below the 55 mph odometer working threshold. When I got back up to speed, the odometer began working again...sort of. Instead of counting forward, it was counting backwards. Would the VSS have any effect on this, or is this a purely mechanical issue? Has anyone ever had an odometer that worked but removed mileage from the counter?

Re: Odometer Works but only above 55 mph

I decided to take apart the gauge cluster and remove the speedo from the car. I turned the trip odometer by hand, and that seemed dodgy. It's like the gears don't make good contact with the trip reset. I couldn't see any other issues and didn't want to take the whole thing apart, as it looked like I would have to remove the speed indication "sticker" that covers most of the clear plastic cover. So, I just put it back in the car, and for some reason it now works all the time! I don't know what the issue was, other than a possible loose connection.
