Wiring a manual fan switch?

I need a simple step by step on how to wire the cooling fans to a switch. Although my fans work fine on thier own, Summer is comming and i'd like to have that extra piece of mind. Any help would be appreciated.

Its a 305 tpi a4 with dual fans bone stock if it helps

Run a wire from the control side of the fan relay ( the dk grn / wht wire , bottom RH corner in diagram ) to ground through a switch
If you want both fans to work off the switch , then wire the control side of both relays together

Not for your year but you get the idea

Re: Wiring a manual fan switch?

Maybe a dumb question but, the fan relays, where in the engine bay are they? Im pretty sure i know one is on the firewall on the driver side by the brake booster... Is the other one there too or somewhere else?

Re: Wiring a manual fan switch?

I traced the wire that comes off of the temp sensor for the fan then I spliced on a wire to that ran it to the firewall to a switch and ran that switch to ground. Grounding that wire will energize the relays and presto fans on command
