Two items - cruise control and info center buzzer

Car: 1987 IROC Convertible
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 5 Speed
Two items - cruise control and info center buzzer
Long story short...car has been garaged but occasionally started. Took it out for a run to just see how everything felt. Now the cruise control does not work. 
Since I hooked up a new battery there is a constant buzz from the DIC box. Ive looked those threads up and suspect a bad box and luckily have a replacement.
But may there be a connection between that and the cruise control not working.
It always has in the past. Now it seems that when I put my key in the column that the tone starts to change. The signal stalk with the CC is on the opposing side.
Should I expect an issue in the steering column? Or is that just happenstance that they are near each other?
Any opinions are appreciated...love being on this board! Cheers!

The cc switch on the turn signal arm is a very common problem. Check the fuse first! You can find the lever on eBay ect. Check YouTube on how to replace.

Will do, the fuse was in the back of my mind. 
Problem just occurred so I didn't get to troubleshoot at all. Figured I'd give a shout out since I was online.
