Wanting to wire in secondary temp gauge
Hey guys,
Ive not long put the knight rider dash in my car and i cant put all my faith in the LED's on the dash for my important readouts. So i was thinking of installing some universal round digital gauges and hide them in the centre console so i can check the temp etc when i want by lifting the lid.
I was told by a friend to look for a dual port thermostat housing where you can screw in a temp sensor but i cant seem to find one that fits an 87 or later block. So im just wondering if anyone else has wired in separate gauges to their cars and where you mount the secondary thermometer ?

Re: Wanting to wire in secondary temp gauge
Can put it anywhere. Some aftermarket waterpumps have additional ports you can use, some thermostat housings have a port you can use, and also there are holes in the heads you can use if not using yours for fan control. Thermostats for tpi are harder to find due to the angle they discharge at. May need to find one with swivel neck which are more pricey
Or just tap into the current sensor circuit and feed signal to two gauges. I think that can work but i understand an additional sensor is a safe double check

Ive been told i cant use one signal wire to go to two gauges or they will give false readings :/
Im not using the fan switch on the passenger side of the block as ive rewired my fans to switches, can that be used as a temp gauge then ?

Well this worked great, installed another temp sender where the fan switch goes, ran the wire around the back into the loom and through into the car, and ive mounted the gauge under the stock dash so its hidden from the knight rider dash and only visible through the gap in the switchpods when im driving
