Lon need your help: rear hatch releasing when driving

Hi,

I know I am breaking the cardinal rule of posting which is to do a search. Well I did and replied to that post but am hoping I can get Lon's attention :-).

I purchased a rebuilt kit 8 years ago and it had worked flawlessly for the hatch down motor. My problem is the release slenoid will now trigger when driving thus resulting in an open hatch (this-is-a-no-good). By trigger I mean I hear the tell tale "click" / "pop" of it activating while driving, even with the control wire removed from the solenoid.

On your site Lon you offer rebuilt hatch pull downs and have detailed instructions for repairing the hatch pull down. How do I diagnose and repair problems with the release system including manual key release?

Do you offer a rebuild kit or a replacement system for the release only?

Thanks!

Whooops just saw where you sell used solenoids. I might just buy a new one and hope that fixes the problem. Are there other specific failure modes that would cause the hatch to release while driving other than a short in the solenoid?
