1989 Formula Firebird. My cruise will set just fine and then it kicks out and if you try to resume it fails, If you switch it off and back on it will work. Then it will fail again sometimes 1 miles sometime 50 miles later same scenario. The little black box on the passenger side the issue? Or something else?

Use a small bulb such as a side marker bulb and wire it to the dark blue wire at the cruise module.
Make the leads long enuff so you can see it from the cockpit.
Now when the cruise cuts off observe the bulb.
If its dark, you know the problem is a power dropout, for example bad switch, loose connection.
