Hey I need some serious help I'm lost my car won't crank, nor start but will click. Its a 1989 formula I've replaced the starter, and the cyliniod, natural safety switch, starter enabler relay, the pass key decoder madule. My car was running fine 2 hours later I went and fired it up and nothing like there was no power. I've bypassed the starter enabler and it cranked but the injectors won't fire. I bought and tried a new key I've got power to the start the ignition switch etc. I think it might be two wires grounding out but I don't know and was hoping some one might be able to she'd some light on this for me. A week or so before this happend my rit coolest fan stayed on and drained my batter after replacing the positive batter cable it ran fine for two days and then died. I'm getting desperate. Any help is appreciated thanks

 

Check your grounds especially the big one that comes off the batter terminal. Also make sure the batter terminals are very clean and getting a tight and clean connection. I bet it's a loose battery cable.

 

I've checked and replaced the battery cable, and all the grounds I can fined. When I hit the key the headlights don't dim or anything. The dash and radio shut off but that's normal I thought. Also I hear the click from the ignition but nothing else I have power to the starter but when I bypass the ignition be it at the ignition relay or the starter itself it fires but there's no injections it will fire if I spray starter fluid into it but immediately dies. Also there's no security system in it, looks like the previous owner took it out

 

is the starter installed correctly? Is the little wire on the right post?

Check engine light?

 

Yah it's on

 

Did you check for spark?

 

Yah it will fire with starter fluid but the enjectors won't fire

 

Do you hear the fuel pump relay turn on?

 

Yah I here the pump power on I'm not sure about the relay

 

Kind of sounds like the ecm to me. But I don't wanna rush into any conclusions but I had a truck have similar issues and it ended up being the ecm. So all the injectors arent firing?

 

Nothing and the starter won't crank unless you cross it at the starter or bypass the starter enabler relay

 

I wanna say the ecm so badly.... Check to see if the power to the ecm is good and not weak or anything or bad connection.

 

Ok just throw a tester on it with the key on?

Or your VATS still isn't working and that you should by-pass it.

 

Yeah if it gives you a code 13 im thinking either vats or bad ecm.

 

If the CEL blinks non stop that means bad prom = ECM

 

What if it's just on not blinking do you know?
