Oil pressure sensor wiring

Oil pressure sensor wiring
My question is brought about because I am wiring in all new gauges and some of which require their own specific sensor to be used, i.e. a different sensor that is calibrated to work with their specific gauge.
I am currently running MegaSquirt that uses a slightly rewired stock TPI 90-92 engine wiring harness. I need to wire in a new oil pressure sensor in place of the old/stock oil pressure sensor. It appears that the stock oil pressure sensor was used as somewhat of a failsafe for the fuel pump, so if the relay failed the sensor could still power the pump. I do not care about keeping this particular feature so I am fine with doing away with that operation. So in order to wire in the new oil pressure sensor (which is the simple two wire type) I will cut/remove the orange power wire (that comes from the same splice of wires connecting to hot at all times fuel pump wire) or the grey wire (which is also power that comes from the fuel pump relay). One of those wires I would just leave for the power. Sound right?

Re: Oil pressure sensor wiring
Here is the diagram: http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ine_wiring.gif
It appears is if the oil pressure sensor is only a type of fail safe and I should be fine in removing the stock sensor in favor of my aftermarket gauge's unit. Just need to remove it's old hot wire (orange specifically). Anyone care to chime in?

Right.
You can eliminate the orange wire and the gray wire that come off the stock pressure switch.
When cutting them out make sure you do it at their tie point only so you won’t cut the desired parts of the circuit.
