Hey guys, iv got an 86 with a 78 350 carb set up. I replaced the original alt because it tested weak and wasn't keeping a charge on the battery. The alt I bought also didn't charge so I took it back and it tested faulty so they replaced that one. The 2nd new alt also didn't charge but tested good. They went ahead and replaced with with another one of a different make and still have the same issue. Volt meter confirms that the battery is good but the output of the alt isn't up to par. I'll get 6 or 7 good starts out of a fresh batter and that's it. However, when the car is started it will run with no fear of dying. Iv only driven it max 150 in one trip though. The starter tests out fine as does the distribution system. Any ideas?
