brake light

Engine: 5.0, 2.5, 2.5
Transmission: 5spd
brake light

not the one on the back of the car, the one on the dash, i always set my handbrake when i park, but lately after i release it, light stays on i imagine the little prong the plug...... plugs on to is broken off, anyone got a fix, messed with it a bit, thing is touchy as all hell

Yes it might be broken off allowing it to touch the body ground.

Replace the switch.

switch? its a little tab on the lever with a plug on it no? and my trans tunnel is carpeted how would it ground out? pics? of the brake light on the dash? im just gonna un plug it, hell i don't need it i know when i set the brake haha

On my car, this was caused by the electrical sensor in the proportioning valve. Apparently I have a bad valve, leaky lines or some other issue that caused my "brake light" to stay on in the dash. I disconnected the sensor and the light went a way. Now, I do lose brake fluid, I need to fill it about every six months but I'll be damned if I can find the leak...none of the fittings are "wet" so it can't be a big leak.

You might be losing it in the rear drums, if equipped, and it will look dry because of the small amount, and the camouflage of brake dust.

Also it doesn’t always come out of the fitting end.

I have four-wheel disk, not sure if this will have the same issue or not.
