1991 Firebird Tail and side lights
Hi all,
Looking for some help/advice and hope you can help. I have a 1991 Firebird 5L and recently the tail and side lights have stopped working. The brake, headlights and turn signals all work fine, including the motors popping up.
I found the wiring diagram at the bottom of this PM, which looks to be the right one.
First thing I checked was the tail light fuse, which is completely fine and has 12v running across it.
In the cargo area (rear), driver side, is a compartment that can be opened with a key. In there the wiring harness going to the tail lights is present. I checked this wire (BROWN), with the PARK light switch on, and it had no voltage across it.
So, as per the wiring diagram, something from the tail fuse to the brown wire is at fault.
Before I start pulling wires and switches out, any thoughts? I disconnected the harness at the back of my aftermarket stereo as I initially thought if there was a shared ground this may cause a problem. However given the brown wire is reading 0 volts I doubt this is the cause.
Could it be the switch even though the headlights work and pop?
Any advise would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Anil

With the headlight switch in the Marker Lights On position, probe the brown wire at the switch.
Is there power there?
If no, replace the switch.
