Bypassing the antenna relay with an aftermarket power antenna
I bought a replacement power antenna that bypasses the OEM antenna relay and is supposed to be hard wired to the yellow, orange, and pink wires that feed into the antenna relay. The new antenna comes with red and blue wires. The manufacturer says that their red wire gets connected to the constant 12V source and the blue wire gets connected to the wire that triggers the antenna to raise up when the radio is turned on. When I told them I had three wires coming from the radio to the relay, they said if I connect their red & blue wires to the correct two radio wires, the third wire can be ignored.
If I'm understanding this correctly, I should connect the manufacturer's red wire to the radio's orange wire and the manufacturer's blue wire to the radio's yellow wire, and that the pink wire is no longer needed.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?

From the circuit diagram you only have 2 wires to the stock relay .
The org power wire and the pink trigger from the radio

All three go to the stock relay (I checked). Maybe the red wire connects to the orange wire and the yellow and pink get dovetailed and connected to the blue wire?
On the other hand, I have a service manual from an '88 Firebird and it seemed to suggest that the pink wire is for a subwoofer and/or an amplifier, neither of whic I have

Re: Bypassing the antenna relay with an aftermarket power antenna
This is an easy swap...
Ground the new antenna in the kick panel, since the ground wire is usually too short to reach the OEM relay.
The red wire gets attached to the Orange wire at the relay and the blue wire from the new antenna gets connected to the pink wire at the original relay.
OEM wiring at the relay:
Black - ground
Orange - battery (constant)
Pink - trigger (AKA "remote")
White green and grey are control wires from the OEM antenna itself that trigger full extension and retraction.

Re: Bypassing the antenna relay with an aftermarket power antenna
Thank you, Six_Shooter! Do you think I can push the antenna wires into the female receptacles of the relay plug and then plug it into the relay, or is that a short waiting to happen and that I should cut off the plug and splice the wires together?

Make proper connections or don't do it at all.

I kind of thought it wasn't the best idea, which is why I asked someone else before I went ahead with it. I'll just splice the wires together.
You can tell by my line of questioning that I'm not very electrically inclined.
Thank you for your help! I plan to finish up on Friday night.
