a/c-heater blower relay not working...

ok, I have a 92 Camaro rs with manual a/c. recently the blower stopped working and since typically its due to the resistor pack going out, I figured id start there. here is what ive found.

checked power on the resistor connector, and I have voltage going into the connector at each of the wires that correspond to their respective control switch location but no power coming thru the resistor (even the engine fan circuit was dead for the a/c when on Max). and no voltage at the blower either. anyways, replaced the resistor and voltage comes thru the pack, engine fan relay works when the a/c comes on max/normal/defrost like its supposed to. still no blower operation....

pulled the a/c blower relay, relay looked like it was cooked on the purple wire (the power input to the blower). replaced the relay with a new one, and verified circuit continuity when the relay was activated. checked the relay connector and I have voltage at the red wire (always hot) and the orange wire (blower fan setting on high). simulated the relay activating by jumping the red wire to the purple wire, blower fires up in all its glory.

plug the relay in, nothing happens. no click from the relay, blower not turning. pull the relay back off and check it again. relay works, circuits good when 12 volts batt+ supplied to it. checked the connector again. 12 volts on the red wire, 12 volts on the orange wire. pull out the test light. ground test light to frame and touch to positive battery post, light comes on. touch test light to red wire on connector (batt+, always hot), light comes on. touch light to orange wire (blower setting - high), light off. repeat test two more times, and check for voltage. 12 volts batt+ on the orange wire and the red wire, but the orange wire has no current flow while the red one does.

any help please.....

Re: a/c-heater blower relay not working...

Is nothing working at all? Behind your HVAC head unit there is a grey wire that has a connector ( for some odd reason ) any way pull that or your radio out and check and make sure that ain't burned up. That wire is what supplies power to the whole unit, so if that's not making a good connection NOTHING will work.

This post may help: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ro-rs-no.html?

I'm having a problem where my high speed setting won't work, my red wire at the relay is not burned up on the connector, and my grey wire connector isn't burnt up, I replaced the resister, blower motor, relay, and I'm about to replace the switch.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this grey wire runs into the connector on your speed switch.

How good is the relay ground?
No ground path on the relay control circuit, no relay operation when 12v on the org wire

You have a bad connection from the purple wire on the resistor pack to the blower + terminal.

Due to the fact you have power on the orange wireyour problem is what vetteoz stated
"How good is the relay ground?", or you have a bad connection at the relay socket on the orange wire.

I pulled out my ac and fabbed an ac delete box but didnt use the resistor. Only need one speed for defrost and I thought the high speed went straight to relay and motor. Is it ok to do this
