82z cruise control

Been restoring my 82z that I've had for many moons. The cruise control never worked, so i decided to try & fix it.
Bought new transducer, switch & the servo (which was very hard to find)
Hooked it all up...& it worked! except for one problem.....when I press the set button, it accelerates to about 65mph, no mater what speed I set it at.
I'm wondering if maybe I have the switch wire connector in backwards??...& its going to 'resume' when I want to set speed. If I'm going, say, 55 & press the set button in about halfways & release real quickly, then it seems to stay at that speed...but if I press the set button all the way in, it jumps up to 65.
Anybody have any thoughts?

Re: 82z cruise control

maybe check the diaphragm under the hood too, maybe somehow a vacuum line (i think its vacuum powered) is stuck and it keeps squeezing the diaphragm to a certain amount?

Re: 82z cruise control

Thanks racerx....
I'll check the vacuum...I'm assuming the diaphragm/servo is operated by the transducer...& the transducer I just bought (rebuilt)..so hopefully its working right.
Just wondering what the cruise does if you had the cc switch wires to the transducer connected backwards....??
Could also be that I have the servo to throttle cable and/or chain adjusted wrong...I adjusted them according to the haynes manual, but the cable is adjusted all the way out.
I'll just keep screwing w/ it.........
