wiring troubles

I have an issue with some wiring as the title says! Being a rhd conversion I'm assuming some wiring was moved around at one point. I don't know how the po put up with it but I don't think he really knew much about the car. Anyway it seems as though my rear demister is running on the same positive as my fuel pump. Can someone explain where the fuel pump positive should run to from the tank? I'm no good at understanding the service manual diagrams.

Re: wiring troubles

You might not be good with diagrams, but it's good to use them if you've got them. This is the diagram of your Rear Defogger.........

The "relay" is located behind the pass side dash housing trim panel and the "control" is the button on your dash. You can see that the defroster relay gets it's power from the ACC circuit breaker in your fuse box. You can also see that the defroster button gets it's power from the GAUGES fuse.

Remove the GAUGES fuse and the ACC Circuit breaker and then test to see if the fuel pump is still getting power.

The factory 88 TPI fuel pump switch and fuel pump relay should BOTH be getting thier power from the same 20 AMP IN-LINE fuse ( near the battery ). The Fuel Pump should get power thru a tan ( or tan/white ) wire leading from the relay/ECM/Switch circuit.

Hope that helps !!!

A RHD conversion doesn't involve any wiring changes at the rear except reworking the brake lights / indicators to comply with local rules.

Pretty sure if you saw my dash atm you may change your mind lol, there's a few spliced wires around and I cant see how some stuff could be moved from left to right without lengthening the wires. But thanks for your response.

Thanks I understand what you said but the diagram confuses the **** outta me! Where do I find the acc circuit breaker?

With the attached photos, could I get some help identifying the relays please:

ok, so that one is by the battery/ washer fluid reservoir.

just want to know what the connection is above the washer hose.

the two relays and the one on the end

this one is beside the coolant reservoir

the relay towards the back, sort of in the middle of the pic

This last one is behind the right kick panel. I believe its part of the defogger. Need clarification on this. It clicks when I press the defogger button. When I hold down the defogger button, the idle goes crazy and this little box starts buzzing. I I press and release the defogger button the idle drops for a few seconds, then all is normal again. The rear hatch does not defog.

Thanks guys. Bear in mind the engine is the subject on a rhd conversion so some things my be out of place compared to lhd.

I"M DESPARATE FOR HELP!!! I don't want to visit an auto electrician if I can help it and I really want to sort out this weird defogger problem so I can put my car back together and drive it! Basically what I'm trying to figure out is why when I hit the defogger button the idle drops, I've only assumed up to this point that its somehow wired into the fuel pump but I could be wrong.

Chris

Like I said " at the rear " ;as in behind the seats , in the boot , etc

Obviously with the dash inverted , many things have to change and each converter has different ways of doing things
If the bulkhead plugs are in the original location then under dash wiring will have to extended to suit the new location of cluster and switches

Re: wiring troubles

ESC ( spark control ) module on end
Middle relay prob MAF burnoff or power relay,( should have 2 relays the same for the MAF )
LH relay prob fuel pump relay

The one by the coolant bottle is prob radiator fan relay
the one by the wiper motor prob driving lights relay

If you give us the wire colours into all the relays you show we can tell you exactly what they are
