Pegging temp gauge needle during start up.

Just as the subject line states, I have a needle, that pegs very time I crank. This is normal. I have gone though the search function and those thread I have read state that is it normal. Instead of pegging the needle , it should be a bulb check like other vehicles. Has anyone figured out a way t resolve this issue? I had the same problem on another pontiac and there is a way of solving it.

What's wrong with it? If it was a dummy light instead of a gauge it would light up, but since it's a gauge, it sweeps as a test.... There's no issue there to resolve. It's working correctly, even if it's not exactly the same as some of your other vehicles

Thank you for replying. From your comments I gather that there is no temp light at all on the dash of the firebird. That really seems very difficult to believe.

Strange But True

In many cars of that vintage you either got lights OR gages.

You can always improve things.

The best dash is one with gages, and have a warning light in each respective gage illuminate when readings outside the norm occur.

The most important one to enhance would be the oil gage.

Happy Racing!
