tool/probe test ecm points?

I am haveing burned up ICM and coils and PO look slike shas 2 home made pigtails in the ignition wire under the hood. maybe grounding.

Are there any good ways to test the ecm wire points at the ecm harness? I see several test that say check C5 D5 etc... but how do you get a VMM or Test light access? Is there a pin you can stick in there so I can measure from?

There are specially designed back probing probes. You can also get what are called "bed of nails" to pierce the wire with a bunch of very small spikes.

There is also the home alternative, using a paperclip that is straightened out or similar small but stiff piece of metal that can get into the connector beside the wire and go in far enough to contact the metal cterminal.
