Wiper help PLEASE?1988 Firebird V8 5.0

I know there are hundreds of wiper threads on here, however, I havent seen one with my specific problem.

The wipers only work when I hold the spray wash. Otherwise they dont run on any settings. I would assume the motor is good since the wipers move with the wash held on. I have been reading there is no relay for this model. Would the motor have an internal relay? The fuse has been checked and changed.

As anyone heard of this, or have any ideas what may be going on?

It could be the wiper switch itself. You will need to do a little trouble shooting to fined out. When the wiper switch is on do you have power to the connection at the wiper motor?

With the wiper unit unplugged, key in the ACCY position, and the wiper switch in the HI position, use a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to probe the pink, dark green, gray, and purple wires.
Which wires do you have power on?
