Synchronized front parking/turn light and side marker. LED
I need to find a way to make the front turn signal work in sync with the side marker, but also want to have the side marker work as parking light. Using LED's.
Found this smart guy "willywillyk" that found out a "simple" way to do it
http://www.yotatech.com/f2/parking-l.../#post51821732
Now I'm trying to copy and reproduce his mod, and not sure which diode's I need to use.
I tried some diodes from a RC shop but does not seem to work properly, the side marker only turns off for a fraction of a second.
Also using a 1000 uf cap and no resistor.

Re: Synchronized front parking/turn light and side marker. LED
Looks like I made some progress today, found out the correct way to put the capacitor, found out that I need a bigger capacitor, if I use 1000uf + 470uf + 330uf all together the side marker turns off but not long enough to match the front turn signal.
When connected to 12V source, the side marker stays off a little longer then with the 9V battery, I thought it would be the opposite, still need to do some reading on the diodes maybe it is related.
No one here has any imput?

Re: Synchronized front parking/turn light and side marker. LED
Well kinda learned and figured out everything.
The 2200uf Cap. matches the stock type LED flasher good.
The resistor and the Diode before the Cap. did not seem to have any function, so I left them away.
Tried to make it as simple as possible.
- the black and red wire on the left go to the side marker.
- on the right side, blue/turn, black with white end/park and black/ground go tapped in tho the front park/turn light wires.
Will put them on the car as soon as I find a moment, to test and share.

Re: Synchronized front parking/turn light and side marker. LED
Finally got it working!
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1atf7s_side-marker-sync-relay-480p_tech
I discovered that the Diode between the turn signal and the Cap. is absolutely necessary for it to work, when installed on the vehicle. Probabaly due to some sort of inversed current that the factory system has.
Here is a pic of how the finished side marker sync relay turned out.
- on the front the black and brown wire go to the side marker.
- on the back, blue/turn, brown/park and black/ground go tapped in tho the front park/turn light wires.
(in the video the park light looks blueish, but in reality it is perfectly white)

Re: Synchronized front parking/turn light and side marker. LED
I have a simular issue as I put E36 headlights in and ran my halos off the side marker light but now when I turn the turn signal on it doesnt flash at all. Something I still have to figure out and this might help me in the right direction

Wow, that's a way to WAY over complicate this, but like a factor of 10.
This can be done with the relay only and no additional electronics parts.
I'll have to draw it out again, to remember how I did this in the past, but it was really quite simple.

I could not get them to work synchronized with only a relay. Looking forward to learn something new.

Sometimes, load resistors are used instead of changing the flasher relay, but in our situation it is easy to change the flashers.
To build the "Side Marker Sync Relay" you need a standard 5 pin relay, after that can use the LED bulbs there too.

Finally got the chance to take a pick of the flasher relays.
The LED flasher is too big to plug in like the stock one did, it's an easy fix with some electrical wire and spade connectors.
Also note the additional ground wire on the LED flasher relays.

How much for you to make me one and send me directions
Also, Would it be any different on Trans Am?

Probably around 76 $ shipped for plug and play set (without the LED flashers and led bulbs).
Yes it will work, you will have to tap it to the front parking/turn signal wires and connect it to the side markers.
