Missing horn wire?

I have an 89 Camaro RS TBI and the horn hasn't worked as long as I've had the car. However, now I need it as it won't pass inspection otherwise.

I found another thread with the exact same issue (same car even) but the poster never replied if his was fixed or not so I'm not sure if the part linked is the one I need.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...sing-part.html

There is no yellow wire that everyone talks about to touch to metal and see if it sounds the horn. Attached is a picture of what mine looks likeMissing horn wire?-img_4136.jpg

This is the part that was linked http://www.moderndaymuscle.com/inc/sdetail/160/635
Is that all I need is to add this back in? Or am I going to need a wire?

Thanks

There is no yellow wire.

There is a
black wire that goes to the horn buttons.

That is the one you can ground to see if the rest of the horn circuit works.

The wire from the horns to the relay goes from the horns to a connector located on the left side of firewall below the relay bracket.

To access the horn relay remove the knee bolster.

The relay is to the right of the steering column.

Re: Missing horn wire?

keep goin, the place the wire conects to is under the steering wheel, and often broken off when a bad alignment job makes you need to re clock the wheel.

Re: Missing horn wire?

Hey thanks nina and gumby for the reply. I actually bought a new horn connector pin and put it in but am having some trouble with the horn still. The horn will only sound if I connect something like a pair of pliers to the center metal piece (see in the picture above) and the side of the pin.

Pressing down on the pin with the little metal leg that hangs down over it does nothing. I'm guessing it doesn't complete a circuit like it should

Could this be my ground wire being disconnected?
