intellitronx fuel gauge problems
Sorry for posting this in the carburetor section.
I just used a multi meter on the one red wire coming out of the gas tank (because my car was swapped to a carb by the last owner and they cut the pink tan and black wires that went to the old tank) and found that it was reading 69 ohms. When i measured the voltage on the pink wire coming from the dash it measured 5 volts. I thought the gas tanks operated on about 3 volts. If thats true how could i lower the current? Im pretty sure the sending pump is working correctly because the fuel level was working until i put that new intellitronix dash in.

The changing of the colors by the PO is giving you headaches.
No part of the “fuel tank” “operates at 3 volts”.
However the voltage from the level sensor will vary from almost zero, then approach battery voltage as the level changes.
Here’s how to check the sender:
Remove the sender wire going to the gage.
Connect an ohmmeter between ground and that wire.
A correct reading will be between zero and 90 ohms.
But zero might be a short so have at least a ¼ gallon in the tank so you get some resistance.

We can look into the Intellitronix dash at a future time, but the info I posted will properly operate a stock, and many aftermarket gages.

Re: intellitronx fuel gauge problems
Contact the manufacturer of the dash and find out what resistance range their fuel gauge is made to work under. Most are the 0-90 but not all. Also, not a bad idea to also check resistance of the wires at the dash connectors.
